JPL Warriors Cup U12 Group 4
It was a tough day at the office for our U12 Performance Squad on a blustery afternoon. The girls started the game brightly, controlling possession and carving out a couple of promising opportunities. However, as the first half progressed, the opposition found their rhythm, and despite some solid defending, they managed to break the deadlock just before the first break.
The second quarter saw more of the same, with the wind proving to be a difficult opponent in itself. The girls struggled to adapt to the conditions, with many passes overhit, making it tough to build from the back. The opposition's intensity and desire to win the ball back paid off, and they were rewarded with a second goal just before halftime.
Unfortunately, the second half did not bring a change in fortunes. The opposition added two more goals, and the scoreline could have been worse had it not been for a string of crucial saves from goalkeeper Isla throughout the match.
While a difficult result to take, it's a valuable learning experience for the team. As the girls continue to gel and develop, it's a timely reminder that desire and intensity are just as important as skill, especially when facing the top teams in the JPL Warriors league.
We'll take this as a lesson, dust ourselves off, and prepare to go again next week against AFC Bournemouth.
