The mantra "a win is a win" certainly applied today as the U12 Performance girls showcased incredible resilience, grinding out a vital 2-1 victory against Dragon Football Academy in the JPL Warriors Cup.

With unavailability and an early injury thinning the squad, the team was forced to operate with only nine players for the majority of the match. However, this challenge only seemed to fire up the girls.

The U12 Performance side dominated the creation of chances early on, putting the Dragon Football Academy goalkeeper to work with a series of superb shots. Despite the pressure, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock.

Instead of dropping their heads, the goal served as a major catalyst. The girls responded with pace and power, quickly turning the deficit into a 2-1 lead thanks to two rapid-fire goals.

While the strenuous circumstances eventually caused the tempo to drop in the second half, credit must go to every player for their unrelenting work rate. They battled for every ball and defended their narrow lead with fierce determination until the final whistle, clinching a valuable Cup victory.

A special mention goes to Evie L and Xanthe, whose positive attitude and tireless running were infectious throughout the match, helping lift the spirits of the entire squad.

The well-deserved Player of the Match award went to Isla S. Isla was simply committed from start to finish, constantly driving the team forward on the attack and showing phenomenal fitness to track back quickly and recover in defence. A truly complete and powerful midfield performance.
