JPL Warriors U12 Green Division
The first meeting of the season between the U12 and U11 Performance teams delivered a thoroughly entertaining football match that was far more competitive than the final scoreline suggests. Both sides contributed to a spirited contest, showcasing the depth of talent across the age groups.
The home team (U11s) started strongly, demonstrating good possession play, particularly down their right wing, which led to a couple of early half-chances. However, slightly against the run of play, it was the U12s who broke the deadlock. Niesha demonstrated strong individual pressing before coolly finishing to open the scoring.
A second U12 goal quickly followed from a corner kick due to some poor marking, but the U11s responded well at the start of the second quarter, pulling a goal back to keep the game evenly matched. Just before the halftime whistle, the U12s restored their two-goal advantage, ensuring they went into the break with a cushion.
As the game moved into the third quarter, the U12s began to create more telling chances and added a fourth goal to their tally. The final quarter saw the U11s start to tire, allowing the U12s to add a further three goals. Despite the scoreline, the U11s deserve credit for their spirit, as they kept going right until the final whistle. The final score was perhaps a little unjust given the overall quality and effort of the younger team's performance.
Jessie earnt the Player of the Match award for a superb attacking display on the left wing. She was a constant threat, creating a hat-trick of chances for both herself and her teammates. Jessie capped off a fine display of football by scoring four goals and could have easily had more. Well done, Jessie!
