JPL Warriors U12 Green Division
Our U11 Performance Team delivered an outstanding performance this morning in their JPL Warriors league fixture against familiar opponents, a team also in our Cup group. With only one substitute available, the message to the girls was clear: focus on ball usage just as we’ve been practicing in training, and ensure they challenged every time the ball was loose, keeping last night's drills firmly in mind. We also focused on key objectives by tracking passes, headers, and shots on target to maintain their concentration throughout.
The game began positively with our players moving the ball around confidently and controlling possession. However, against the run of play, the opposing side struck first after just 7 minutes. Crucially, the team did not let this setback phase them. They stuck diligently to the game plan, and their persistence was rightly rewarded when one of our strikers followed up on a saved effort to level the score by the end of the first quarter.
The high tempo continued into the second period, yielding some excellent passages of play. The girls continued to move the ball and create space—the effective movement allowed us to play much more directly, leading to numerous scoring opportunities. We were rightly rewarded with two more goals, although one promising effort was later ruled out by the linesman’s flag.
By the third quarter, the players were truly in their stride. This was a quarter of absolute dominance as they not only controlled possession but created chance after chance. Their clinical finishing saw multiple goals added, including a fine hat-trick completed by one of our attackers.
After an hour of intense football, some tired legs were inevitable in the final quarter, but the quality of play persisted. Woking had a few opportunities, making it the busiest period for our goalkeeper, but strong defence and excellent keeping ensured the team maintained their advantage. The team added one final goal before the whistle, securing a dominant win.
Every single girl should have walked off the pitch feeling immense satisfaction today. They implemented everything we’ve been working on in training, showcasing just how good they can be when they work together as a team and use the ball intelligently. This performance was a clear demonstration of the talent and teamwork within this squad and is an excellent platform for us to build on
We couldn’t have asked for more from anyone today. The girls were organised, tenacious, and played some of the best football we’ve ever seen from them – an absolute joy to watch!
