Under 12 Performance Squad vs U11 Performance

JPL Warriors U12 Green Division

The U12 Performance team hosted their U11 counterparts in a highly competitive and enjoyable inter-club JPL Warriors fixture this weekend. While the final scoreline suggested a one-sided affair, the game was much tighter, providing both teams with an excellent test.

The match started with the U11s showing great promise. Their slick passing and good passages of possession put the U12s under early pressure, and they were unlucky not to take the lead after hitting the post from close range—a moment that served as a clear warning to their older teammates.

However, as the first quarter progressed, the U12s' physicality and strength began to create more opportunities. The deadlock was eventually broken by a sharp, poached finish. This opened the floodgates, and two quick-fire goals followed, establishing a 3-0 lead for the U12s by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the U12s extend their advantage with a well-taken fourth goal. The U11s bravely pulled one back from the penalty spot, but the game was effectively sealed just before the half-time whistle when the U12s added a fifth goal.

The second half (third and fourth quarters) was largely dominated by the U12s, who added three further goals to their tally. Despite the dominance, the team might look back and reflect on their decision-making in the final third, feeling they could have converted several more chances. Overall, it was an excellent run-out for both squads.

While every girl played her part in the victory, the Player of the Match award was jointly shared by Neve and Sandra for two truly outstanding individual performances.

Neve: Neve absolutely bossed the midfield today alongside Xanthe. Her tireless running and tackling completely unsettled the opposition’s midfield, and she was instrumental in creating a hatful of chances for her teammates. She is fully deserving of recognition for her excellent performance.

Sandra: Sandra was asked to play up front and press the opposition’s defence relentlessly. She did this with aplomb, delivering her best performance this season. Not only did she score a well-deserved hat-trick, but she also created several chances for her teammates.

A big well done to all the players for an entertaining contest!
