Under 12 Maroon vs Basingstoke Town Youth

U12 Division 1

Our U12 Maroon team kicked off 2026 with a hard-fought 3–1 victory at home against Basingstoke Town Youth. The match began evenly, but the girls gradually took control through excellent link-up play down the left wing. The breakthrough came when a perfectly weighted through ball found our winger, who used her explosive pace to drive into the box and calmly slot the ball past the keeper.

Confidence grew throughout the first half as the team created numerous chances. The second goal arrived following sharp midfield work, where quick passing sequences opened up space for our striker to run onto a through ball and finish clinically. This gave the girls a 2–0 lead heading into the break.

The second half proved to be a different challenge as Basingstoke responded with sustained pressure and managed to pull a goal back with a strike from distance. The game became an end-to-end battle, but the difference between the sides was the outstanding form of our goalkeeper, who produced three crucial saves to maintain the lead. In the final moments of the match, our winger powered down the right side and delivered a dangerous cross which was fired home to seal the well-earned win.

Ava H: Ava was a constant threat to the opposition defence, pressing relentlessly and linking up brilliantly with the midfield and wingers. Her hard work and movement were a key part of the team's attacking success, capped off by a well-taken goal.

Jess B: Jess showed incredible mental toughness and focus. After a challenging moment early in the second half, she stayed composed and made several vital saves that kept the team in front and allowed them to finish the game strongly.
