Hampshire FA U18 Girls Cup
After nearly a month away from competitive action, our U18 Performance team returned to Ganger Farm this weekend for a high-stakes Hampshire FA Cup Quarter-Final. Despite the long break and the challenge of playing with exactly 11 players and no substitutes due to illness and injuries, the girls delivered a clinical opening performance to secure their place in the next round.
The team showed no signs of "holiday rust" at the whistle, starting with incredible intensity. From the first minute, they dictated the tempo, moving the ball with purpose and causing the AFC Totton defence constant problems.
The clinical nature of the performance saw the girls head into the break with a commanding 5-0 lead, with the goals shared beautifully across the attacking line.
As the second half commenced, the momentum shifted. A spirited AFC Totton side stepped up their pace, while our 11 players began to feel the effects of their month-long layoff. With no fresh legs to call upon from the bench, the team had to dig deep as the visitors began to claw their way back into the game.
However, the "never say die" attitude of the squad shone through. Two further goals in the second period ensured the lead remained out of reach, proving that the foundation laid in the first 45 minutes was enough to see the team through.
A massive congratulations to Suzie, who was named Player of the Match. In a game where the squad was stretched to the limit, Suzie’s non-stop running, sheer determination, and incredible work rate were the heartbeat of the team from start to finish.
