Under 12 Performance vs Hartland Girls Academy

The girls started this match exactly where they had left off last week, implementing a high and aggressive press all across the pitch. In particular, the midfield outmuscled the opposition from the first minute and by the end of the first quarter, the girls were 3-0 up with two clinical goals and another well-taken strike.

To their credit, the opposition changed their formation and were far more competitive in the match from the second quarter onwards. That said, the vast number of goalscoring opportunities still came from us. The third quarter was best characterised by the girls having a host of opportunities set up by the two wide players, interspersed with the occasional quick break from the opposition, one of which required a fine reaction save from our goalkeeper to keep the clean sheet.

The final quarter was a repeat of the third, and the scoreline was further extended after an unfortunate own goal by the opposition. In summary, all the girls played to their potential today and it was a really good team effort all round, including those who stepped into the team today and dropped into the rhythm of the game seamlessly.

The Player of the Match was Ivy, who was on fire today. Her movement on and off the ball was wonderful to see and the opposition defenders couldn’t lay a glove on her. She made endless runs behind the defence to help stretch the opposition and was richly rewarded with two wonderful goals in the first half.
