The U12 Maroon team traveled to the John Jenkins Stadium this Saturday with a clear mission: to secure a place in the Cup Final. In a thrilling encounter against Pompey in the Community, the girls delivered a victory, booking their spot in the final for the second consecutive year.

The team started the game with intent, immediately shifting into attack mode. While there were some early nerves with a few passes going astray, the girls quickly established themselves as the stronger side. The opening goal was a highlight of the match, involving a professional-level build-up. The move began in midfield with a brilliant through-ball to the wing, followed by a clinical cross that was expertly headed past the keeper to give the team the lead.

The momentum stayed firmly with the girls as their intensity and energy began to overwhelm the opposition. Just five minutes before the break, the lead was doubled when a sharp run through the defence ended with the ball being poked home, giving the team a well-earned two-goal cushion at half-time.

The second half proved to be a test of character. Pompey emerged with renewed purpose, and as the game became a little frantic, we conceded a soft goal. With the opposition pushing for an equaliser, the girls had to ride their luck at times and dig deep. However, the girls showed incredible resilience, shifting to a dangerous counter-attacking game to manage the pressure. Their determination to see the game out was rewarded with the final whistle and a ticket to the final.

Player of the Match was awarded to the Whole Team for a performance that combined clinical attacking play in the first half with grit and heart in the second. The girls have earned the right to fight for the trophy—bring on the final!
