The U15 Performance squad experienced a challenging outing this weekend, providing a stark reminder of how critical a fast start is at this level. A frustratingly slow opening period saw the girls struggle to find their rhythm or settle into their usual shape, and a clinical opposition took full advantage of the hesitancy to leave us 3–0 down by the end of the first quarter.

However, rather than letting the game get away from them, the team showed impressive character as the match progressed. By matching the opposition stride-for-stride to draw that second period, the girls proved they had the quality to compete.

While the third quarter proved difficult and saw the opposition pull further ahead, the squad saved their best football for last. Refusing to let their heads drop, the girls dominated the final period of play. Through better movement and more assertive pressing, they successfully won the final quarter, finishing the game as the stronger side.

Ultimately, while it wasn’t the "day out" the team had hoped for, the resilience shown to finish on a high provides a clear silver lining. The focus now turns to the training ground, where the squad will look to bottle that final-quarter energy and ensure they are ready to hit the ground running from the first whistle of the next game.
