Our U13 Performance team booked their place in the County Cup Semi-Finals this Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory. Throughout the match, the girls looked composed and comfortable defensively, neutralising threats with disciplined positioning and providing a solid platform for the rest of the team.

The pressure paid off early in the second half when the girls struck their second goal of the game. While the team played some excellent football in spells, there were moments where a lack of intensity and a hesitation to play forward prevented them from further stretching a resolute opposition. Had decision-making in the final third been sharper, the margin of victory likely would have been even greater.

A massive standout in this defensive effort was our Player of the Match, Lily. It was an exceptional performance at centre-back; Lily won all her 1v1s and never put a foot wrong to help secure that Semi-Final spot. She is having a superb season so far and was vital in maintaining the team's structure under pressure.

What makes this achievement particularly impressive is the rapid evolution of this squad. With only three players remaining from last season, this group has gelled remarkably quickly. Reaching a County Cup Semi-Final in their first year together is a fantastic milestone and a testament to their growth as a collective.

Looking ahead, the team knows they will need to bring their "A-game" to book a place in the final. However, this group has proven they have the technical ability and the temperament to succeed should they play to their best.
