U12 Division 1
After a three-week break, the U12 Maroon team returned to action at home, securing a well-earned 4–1 victory on a challenging, soft surface. Despite a slight lack of match sharpness early on, the girls started as the brighter side, showing clear intent and quality even as the pitch made a consistent passing rhythm difficult to maintain.
The breakthrough came following excellent midfield play, where a perfectly weighted through ball found our attacker, who calmly slotted past the keeper to take the lead. Five minutes later, the advantage was doubled thanks to a moment of magic from distance. When a clearance dropped in the midfield, the ball was struck first-time, looping high over the keeper and into the net. Although a momentary lapse in concentration allowed the Magpies to pull one back through a simple through ball, the girls quickly regained control. A superb first-time strike from range soon rifled into the top corner, restoring the cushion before the half-time whistle.
The second half saw the U12 Maroon team dominate large spells of possession. On the rare occasions the team was caught out of position, committed tracking back and elite goalkeeping ensured the lead remained intact. The final goal of the afternoon came courtesy of a clinical finish from the left side of the box to make it 4–1.
While it was a comfortable win in the end, the performance provided clear areas for growth, specifically in clinical finishing and defensive tightening to secure future clean sheets. However, outplaying a tough opponent on a difficult pitch was a fantastic achievement with encouraging individual displays across the park.
Our Player of the Match is Jessica. Jess is truly becoming "Miss Dependable" between the posts. She ensured the girls conceded the minimum with some outstanding saves, and considering this is only her first full season as a goalkeeper, the level she is performing at is incredibly impressive. The future is bright—keep up the fantastic work, Jess!
