JPL Warriors U13 Green Division
On Saturday, our U12 Performance team was on the wrong side of a nine-goal nail-biter, losing only their second league game of the season in a 5–4 defeat to Ruislip. It was a fiercely physical and competitive encounter from the first whistle to the last.
The opposition started the brighter of the two sides, racing into a two-goal lead within the opening 10 minutes. However, the girls showed great character to rally in the second quarter. By half-time, the match was level thanks to two clinical goals.
The third quarter proved frustrating; the opposition converted a penalty and added a fourth following a well-worked move. Undeterred, the team pulled one back just before the break with a fine turn and shot, keeping the game within reach.
In a nervy final period played at breakneck pace, the action flowed from end to end. We eventually found an equaliser, though it took a world-class save in goal to keep us level during a period of heavy pressure. Unfortunately, the opposition managed to find a fifth and final goal with less than 10 minutes to go. Despite "laying siege" to the Ruislip goal in the closing stages, we were unable to find the final breakthrough.
Our Player of the Match was Ivy. Ivy scored two well-taken goals and created several opportunities for her teammates. She showed great strength and a constant willingness to run into space. She deservedly takes the captain’s armband for the next match!
