Under 11 Development (Season 2026-27) vs Romsey Town Youth U11 Lionesses

The girls put in a huge shift today and delivered a really competitive performance against a strong Romsey side. Romsey started fast and applied considerable pressure early on, but the girls defended brilliantly, showing real determination and resilience to keep them at bay and finish the opening spell at 0–0.

A few changes brought immediate impact, with the team stepping onto the front foot and beginning to find space behind the Romsey defence. Some excellent balls in behind caused problems, and the pressure was rewarded with a cracking team goal — fantastic movement, sharp link‑up play and a composed finish to put the team 1–0 ahead. Romsey responded almost instantly to level the score.

The final stages of the game were incredibly even, with both teams creating chances and battling hard for control. Romsey edged ahead after a brief defensive lapse and later added a third with a stunning lob from outside the box — a strike that left Kayleigh with very little chance.

Despite the result, there was a huge amount to be positive about. On another day, the girls could easily have scored six or seven goals. The girls peppered the Romsey goal with chances, several narrowly missing the target, and produced excellent passing combinations, intelligent movement off the ball and strong link‑up play throughout.

Overall, it was a fantastic team effort. The girls showed resilience under pressure, courage to attack when opportunities arose, and — most importantly — played with real joy and confidence.

Player of the Match: Kayleigh

A thoroughly deserved award for Kayleigh, who made several excellent saves and impressed with her bravery and speed off the line to deal with danger. A confident, assured performance in goal.
