Under 15 Performance (Season 2026-27) vs Woking Football Club Girls U15

Under 15 Performance (Season 2026-27) vs Woking Football Club Girls U15

Our U15 Performance squad made a brave and encouraging start to their JPL campaign against Premier Division opposition Woking FC.

With the squad made up almost entirely of U14 players, alongside just two U15s, this was always going to provide a significant test. The opening stages highlighted the increased physicality, pace and intensity that comes with competing against older opposition, but as the game progressed, the girls adapted impressively.

After falling behind, the girls grew into the contest and began competing extremely well in their individual battles. Their improvement was rewarded with a deserved equaliser before Woking responded quickly to regain the lead.

For a long period of the game, there was very little between the two sides. The girls worked exceptionally hard without the ball, defended with real determination and continued to carry a threat when opportunities arose to attack.

As fatigue began to show later in the game, Woking were able to add further goals, but the final stages did little to take away from what had been an extremely positive performance from a young side playing up an age group.

Learning Through Challenge

The opening JPL Cup fixtures will expose this group to some of the strongest Premier Division teams at this age level, and there will inevitably be periods where we have to work for longer without possession.

That challenge is exactly why these fixtures are so valuable.

Once the girls adapted to the speed and physical demands of the game, they competed brilliantly for around 50 minutes. Their application, attitude and work rate were outstanding throughout.

Our next step is to become more composed when we regain possession. At times we worked incredibly hard to win the ball back, only to give it away too quickly. Learning to remain calm, make better decisions and retain possession under greater pressure will be an important part of the squad’s development this season.

Defensively, however, there were some very encouraging signs. The team looked strong for long spells, competed extremely well in 1v1 situations and continued to pose an attacking threat, particularly through Sophie leading the line and Ruby operating just behind her.

Players of the Match

A huge congratulations to Sophie and Grace, who were outstanding.

Both competed superbly in their individual duels, came out on top consistently and showed real quality once they had regained possession, helping the team keep the ball under pressure.

It was an excellent start to the season from both players, with several others also producing very strong performances.

Looking Ahead

This group will face more demanding tests over the coming weeks, but that is exactly what we want for their development.

For a young squad playing up an age group, these early fixtures provide an opportunity to adapt to a faster game, become physically and tactically stronger, and learn what is required to compete against established JPL Warriors sides.

There is plenty for the girls to take confidence from and plenty still to develop.

Another tough challenge awaits next week — and we’re excited to see how this group continues to grow.
