Under 9 Fire (Season 2026-27) vs Sarisbury Sparks U9 Thunder

A very competitive first league game for the girls, with four new players making their debuts as the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League season got underway. The group started brilliantly, playing some excellent football — recycling possession, switching the play confidently and using the wide areas well to build early momentum and a deserved two‑goal lead.

After the break and a few changes, the opposition grew in confidence and narrowly moved ahead. The girls showed great character to keep working hard, battled back to find an equaliser, and were unfortunate to concede again late on.

A strong opening performance with plenty of positives and clear signs of growth as the group begins its league journey.

Players of the Match: Evie and Isla

Evie set the tone brilliantly in the first quarter. Her desire to win the ball, combined with real composure in possession, helped the team build their two‑goal lead. She then showed her versatility by stepping into goal and later playing at the back, where she mopped up everything and kept the team organised.

Isla was outstanding defensively throughout. Her energy, bravery and willingness to drive the team forward from the back were great to see, and she played a huge part in keeping the group competitive across all four quarters.

A fantastic joint award for two players who made a big impact today.
