Under 11 Performance (Season 2026-27) vs Verwood Town U11

A tough but very positive first league game for our new U11 Performance team, who faced a challenging afternoon with no substitutes available and an early injury disrupting the rhythm right from the start. Despite this, the girls showed fantastic character and commitment throughout.

The aim was to play our football — building through passes, combining well and staying brave in possession — and the group delivered exactly that. Defensively, they worked brilliantly together, supporting each other, communicating effectively and providing good cover across the pitch.

For long periods the match was evenly balanced, with the girls putting in a huge physical effort. They continued to defend, compete and look for opportunities to counter‑attack. Towards the end of the third quarter, the opposition capitalised on a free kick and added another goal shortly after. Understandably, the girls felt a little deflated, but a positive team talk before the final quarter sparked an excellent response.

They came out determined, quickly got themselves on the scoresheet and enjoyed a strong spell of dominance — pushing forward, creating chances and showing real belief. As they took more risks and tiredness set in after such a big effort, the opposition found another goal late on.

Despite the result, the girls fought until the final whistle and showed outstanding resilience. The scoreline doesn’t reflect the effort, football or character they displayed, especially given the circumstances.

A new team, a new league and the beginning of an exciting journey. There will be plenty to learn, but the attitude and commitment shown today give us every reason to be positive about what lies ahead.
