Champions! U12 Performance Secure JPL Warriors Green Title In Dramatic Finale

Our U12 Performance squad officially reached the summit today, being crowned JPL Warriors Green Division Champions.

In what was their debut season in the Junior Premier League (JPL), the girls proved they belong at the top level. Their record speaks for itself: 8 wins, 2 losses, and a staggering +42 goal difference. That goal tally truly tells the story of their season—a testament to a clinical attack and a rock-solid defence.

Despite being the superior side for the duration of the season, league standings meant it all came down to a high-stakes showdown on the coast. The match started in bizarre fashion when a short goal kick struck the back of an opposition attacker’s head, looping unpredictably into the net to give the hosts a "freak" 1-0 lead.

Showing the resilience that has characterized their season, the girls didn't panic. They stuck to the "Atalanta Way," moving the ball with purpose and carving out chances until they turned the game on its head to lead 2-1.

The drama intensified late in the game when a controversial handball led to a penalty for the opposition, leveling the score. Despite waves of pressure from our girls to find a winner in regulation time, the whistle blew, sending the title decider to the ultimate test: a penalty shootout.

With the weight of the season on their shoulders, the girls showed remarkable composure. A clinical display from the spot saw them secure a 4-3 penalty shootout victory, sparking scenes of jubilation on the pitch. Over the balance of the match and the entirety of the season, there was no doubt that the right team walked away with the silverware.

While the league trophy is now safely in the cabinet, the journey is far from over. By winning the Green Division, the U12 Performance team has officially qualified for the Regional Playoffs.

The stakes couldn't be higher, as they are now just steps away from securing a coveted place at the National Finals. On current form, and with the spirit shown in Brighton, this squad looks more than ready to take on the best in the country.
