U11 Autumn Division 4
The U11 White team put in a strong and determined performance today, demonstrating significant progress even in a challenging match. Playing two 30-minute halves for the first time this season, the girls showed remarkable resilience and adaptability.
Despite conceding an early goal against the run of play, the team never gave up. They stuck to the game plan, which focused on playing forward early, looking for space, and pressing high up the pitch to win the ball back quickly. The early goal was a tough moment, but the girls' response was fantastic, showing great character and continued to play the better football for long periods.
A great example of the team's progress came with our own goal—a superb team effort finished by Lizzie from a brilliant pass by Amelie. This goal highlighted the importance of communication and offering options, a point we emphasized at halftime.
In the second half, the girls' hard work and high-pressing paid off, pinning the opposition in their own half. They were rarely troubled at the back, a testament to their focus and commitment. The only thing missing was a few more goals, which the girls absolutely deserved. Even the opposition coaches complimented the team on their performance, praising their relentless pressure and disciplined play.
While the result may not have been a win, the team was brilliant. They showed they're putting coaching into practice and will only continue to improve. The only disappointment was an injury to Nellie, who had been playing exceptionally well before she had to come off. We all hope she has a speedy recovery.
