Under 10 Sunday vs Fleetlands Youth Oranges

Our U10 girls' team kicked off their first game in the Portsmouth Youth Football League today with a fantastic display of determination against Fleetlands Youth Orange.

Despite facing a significant challenge right from the start with only six players and no dedicated goalkeeper, the girls showcased incredible spirit. The pitch conditions were extremely difficult, resembling a farmyard more than a football field, but this did not stop our team from playing some brilliant, passing football. They were clearly the superior footballing side throughout the game.

The first half was a true battle, with both teams fighting hard, leading to a well-earned 0-0 score at the break. As the second half progressed, the girls' tireless efforts began to take their toll, and they grew tired. Fleetlands Youth Orange capitalized on this, and the game slipped away.

While the result may not have been what we hoped for, the effort, teamwork, and skill shown today were outstanding. We are incredibly proud of every player for working their socks off.

A huge well done to our Player of the Match, Mariela. She ran her socks off for the team, and her decision-making in possession was excellent, as was her tenacity to win the ball back when she lost it.

A huge thank you also goes out to all 6 girls for their hard work and to the parents for their fantastic support today.

We are already looking forward to a rematch with Fleetlands Youth Orange. With a full squad of seven players and the support of our additional subs on a better pitch, we are excited to show what our passing game can really do. Well done, girls!
