The U11 White team delivered an excellent and courageous performance today, demonstrating why the manner of play is always more important than the final score. Up against a significantly larger boys’ team, the girls showed immense teamwork, composure, and determination from the first whistle to the last.

Although the score finished in favour of the opposition, our girls were arguably the better side throughout the match, outplaying the opposition with their controlled, composed football.

The team faced a challenging start with only nine players available and no recognised goalkeeper, requiring players to constantly rotate into goal—a task every girl embraced brilliantly. Despite these limitations, the team showed incredible work ethic.

In open play, the girls controlled the tempo, moving the ball well, keeping sensible possession, and creating numerous attacking chances. They executed the matchday targets superbly: making the pitch big when in possession, keeping the ball when forward options weren't available, and staying compact and patient out of possession.

Unfortunately, a few individual errors at the back proved costly in the first half, allowing the boys to take a comfortable lead into the break. The opposition were able to use their size to their advantage and benefitted from some frustrating decisions, including a very soft penalty call and some harsh offside rulings when our forwards broke clear.

The true character of the U11 White team shone through in the second half. They came out fighting, turning the deficit around to win the second half. This remarkable display of belief and resilience is a massive testament to their spirit and confidence.

We were incredibly proud of the energy, commitment, and resilience shown all over the pitch. Every player who stepped up to go in goal did a fantastic job for the team, embodying the collective sacrifice and effort the coaches ask for.

The coaches couldn't have asked for more from this group of players. These are the types of challenging matches that will benefit the team far more in the long run than any routine victory. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who were there to see their quality play today.

Every single member of the U11 White team earned this recognition for their last-ditch tackles, spectacular saves, creativity in attack, and well-worked goals. A brilliant, collective effort all round.
