U8 Cup
In a hard-fought Hampshire Girls Youth Football League cup match, our U8 Fire team showed incredible heart and determination against a strong and physical Chichester City FC side. Despite having only six players available, with three girls playing up a year and just one substitute the team displayed a fantastic never-say-die attitude.
Facing a big opponent, the girls fell behind early. However, they quickly regrouped and, through a moment of brilliant teamwork, pulled a goal back before the end of the first quarter, keeping the game well within reach. The second quarter saw the team's best football of the game, as they dominated possession and closed the gap to just a single goal by halftime.
The second half presented a true test of endurance. With just one player on the bench and legs beginning to tire, Chichester City started to pull away. Yet, to their immense credit, our U8 Fire team never gave up, continuing to press and battle for every ball. The girls did a great job of keeping the pitch wide when in possession, demonstrating their growing understanding of the game and their positions.
A massive shout out goes to our well-deserved Player of the Match, Amelia. She listened intently to every instruction from the coach, played in multiple positions, and gave her absolute all on the pitch.
The U8 Fire team can hold their heads high after a performance that highlighted their resilience, sportsmanship, and growing skills.
