Jock McClorey Tournament U11
The Under 11 Maroon team faced a significant test of character and resilience today in the League Cup against a physically assertive and well-drilled side. Despite a challenging result, the squad showed tremendous heart in the face of adversity, battling through the entire match with no substitutes available and two players sustaining injuries on the pitch.
The team acknowledged a somewhat rusty start following a short break from training. This lack of sharpness manifested in moments of hesitation when tackling and closing down the opponent, which the opposition were clinical in capitalising on.
While the final score was not in their favour, the Maroons’ determination was unwavering, a quality that will be crucial for their development this season.
The standout performance of the day belonged to Ava-Lily W, who was deservedly named Player of the Match. Leading the line with tireless energy, Ava chased down every ball and demonstrated a refusal to give up. Her phenomenal persistence was rewarded with a well-earned goal for the Maroons.
There is plenty to learn, but even more to build on. The team’s spirit and resilience are clearly evident, and with a renewed focus they are certain to bounce back stronger.
